On top of that, it raises the stakes in it's conflict without going full-time grim-dark, tugs at the heartstrings without being overly-sappy, and the OC literally designed to be a romantic interest for Dawn actually feels human (or mammalian, whatever), and NOT like a Gary-Stu. But unlike the typical DILP schlock, it doesn't disregard her more heinous past actions, either. There's more parallels between Bellwether and Judy, and reveals a lot more about her past, motivations, and her role in the Night Howler scandal that I honestly think better fits her character than in the original film. For what is essentially a "Draco-In-Leather-Pants-Fic", it's really well-done, especially considering the author mostly does smutty furry art.
